درحال حاضر نیمی از جمعیت دانشجویی 36 هزار نفری دانشگاه تهران در دوره های كارشناسی و نیمی در دوره های تحصیلات تكمیلی تحصیل می كنند.

سال تحصیلی گذشته تعداد ورودی های جدید دانشگاه تهران در دوره های كارشناسی حدود دو هزار نفر بود درحالیكه پنج هزار نفر برای دوره های كارشناسی ارشد و دكتری پذیرفته شدند.
